Our Kiwanis club raises funds for the Heuser Hearing and Language Academy, through The Dr. Ed Morgan 4 mile run/ walk event each summer, as well as through our annual gift from the Kiwanis Club of Louisville Foundation, and service by our members on the HHLA Board.
Louisville Deaf Oral School Foundation
Our Kiwanis Club contributes to the Heuser Hearing and Language Academy, through The Louisville Deaf Oral School Foundation. Our Club members, along with members of the Woman’s Club of Louisville, serve on the Board of the LDOSF Foundation and help oversee the Foundation’s endowment that as of 12/31 2023, totaled about $5 million. In January 2024, the LDOS Foundation will be awarding Heuser Hearing and Language Academy a gift totaling $262,000.
The Salvation Army – Louisville Command
Our Kiwanis club raises funds for the Salvation Army here in Louisville through our annual gift from the Kiwanis Club of Louisville Foundation, as well as staffing Red Kettle locations each Christmas at the Kroger in the Highlands, and on Hubbards Lane for 12 hours each of three (3) Saturdays in December. In 2023, we raised $14,322 from these two locations and our Club members donations. We also serve the Salvation Army in Louisville through our gift of time by members of our Club who server on their Advisory Board.
Wayside Christian Mission
Our Kiwanis club raises funds for Wayside Christian Mission in Louisville through our annual gift from the Kiwanis Club of Louisville Foundation, as well as volunteer hours at their annual Breakfast with Santa event each December,
Louisville Regional Science and Engineering Fair
The LRSEF was founded in 1959 with the help of several Kiwanis Clubs in the Metro Louisville, Kentucky area. Each March, Louisville Club members volunteer to help with registration, set up, and safety and standards checks for the roughly 350 elementary, middle, and high school exhibitors coming to the University of Louisville Swain Activities Center to present their exhibits for judging on the regional level.

Our Kiwanis club raises funds for Key Club college scholarships for students selected in through a scholarship application process, from the Key Clubs we sponsor. The scholarships are funded by our members and the Kiwanis Club of Louisville Foundation.
Key Club Sponsorships
Our Kiwanis club supports Key Club service projects, facilitate the Key Club meetings, provide mentorships and provide college scholarships for the Key Club students. We are currently sponsoring the following Kiwanis Key clubs:
At the last Board meeting of the 2018-2019 Club Year, Shellie Garman, incoming President, said she wants to keep the meetings scheduled for the 3rd Thursday each month, at ACC before the Club meeting at 10:45am.
